About

What is the purpose of CG&ARP?

The purpose of CG&ARP is twofold.

  • First, to create research projects in computer graphics, animation and Interactive techniques, and to staff these projects with undergraduate students from a wide number of countries.
  • Second, in the process of creating and staffing these projects, to explore and document various aspects of international, student collaborative research.

Is research only for science students? Is research only for students who want to go to graduate school? Isn’t my coursework enough?

No, no, and maybe not.

Research is the systematic gathering of information to help you answer a question or solve a problem. Research is going on right now all over the world.

Undergraduate research can help …

  • Improve communication skills
  • Find opportunities to present and publish ideas
  • Test determination and perseverance
  • Develop creativity, problem-solving, and intellectual independence
  • Develop research skills including gathering and analyzing data and speaking effectively
  • Strengthen personal portfolios
  • Attain professional advancement, professional development, and personal development

How are CG&ARP projects staffed?

Each CG&ARP project is led by a Project Lead, typically a faculty or professional member, who manages the project. The remainder of a project team consist of undergraduate students who actually do the research, and others who act as advisors.

“What happens to results produced by project teams?”

At various stages in a project’s life, the team will determine if sufficient progress has been made to merit formally documenting the team’s work, and submitting this documentation for publication or presentation at a conference or symposium.

Once a project has been completed, a formal report will be produced and archived on our website.
